An allegorical beast fable of a free economy developed since the Great Rebellion of ’55.
After celebrating their 75th anniversary, Freedom Farm is showing excellent growth in productivity, progress and power. All the animals are happy and have everything they need. They have also grown used to having everything they want and believe they are entitled to have it all. However, those that work the farm are not aware of what goes on behind the walls of the White Lodge where their leaders are corrupt and greedy. They are told what their leaders want them to know and when certain truths are revealed, the animals either don’t know what to do about it or have no capacity to change the direction the farm is taking. Some are even silenced.
The leaders believe that every problem faced by the farm and its growing population can be overcome with technological advancement, control and corruption. They believe in more and more and more of everything – particularly more power, more money. More animals will only increase their profits. They ignore the finite nature of their farm and as the population increases beyond what the farm can sustain the result is inevitable.
